Ronald Eugene Copeland Jr better known as Ron Cope, brings a hard punching, head-banging, yet soulful and humorous almost movie-like uniqueness to music. RonCopes ability to not only deliver true lyricism and emotion with every song he writes. He is more than capable of producing a wide arsenal of top-quality beats to back his lyrical genius. ranging from thunderous 808s hi-hats and slapping dirty south “crunk”  to the east coast “boom bap”. RonCope is more than your ordinary artist and producer with a story like none other that could only be told by the artist himself.

RonCope’s production and unique style of rhymes are heavily influenced by his favorite super producers DJ Paul and Juicy J, both founding members of the group Three  6 Mafia. GROUPS SUCH AS NWA, Wutang clan, slipknot, hell yeah, and Korn are all amongst ronCope’s influences in his productions as he incorporates his love for all genres of music.  RonCope has not only produced his music over the better half of two decades, working independently on his own but has worked with many being featured on numerous songs from other independent solo artists from South Carolina, one which would become his long-time friend and partner named Devin boatwright aka. DevBoat. RonCope and DevBoat would meet in the fall of 2009 and unite to form an alliance they called “blue collar music," dedicated to the regular hard-working people whom they say never get glorified in the industry. Both rappers would begin their reign in the underground and take their talents from their small mixtape recordings to the studio spreading their message and skillset like wildfire throughout the low country. “On your block “ was the first of the hip hop duo’s list of local hits followed up by their video exploding with popularity on YouTube with over 30k views.

roncope and DevBoat would continue their partnership over the next 8 years recording, adding “flip it” where both would show off their unique styles Devboat’s loud thunderous voice along with Roncope’s “EAZY e” sounding voice as one of their friends would say, both almost competing against each other lyrically on every song complimented by the hand-picked beats they selected,  most of which were produced by “pups” an affiliate big-time producer of the “808 mafias”  made them such gifted team.

Ron Cope is not only a solo artist and producer. During his new find alliance with fellow artist DevBoat, he would become a service member enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on June 01, 2010. While enlisted over the next 4 years, RonCope would continue recording and even briefly attending school online for music production “Full Sail University” adding to his lifelong passion for music until the spring of  2012 when RonCope would take his talents across the globe. RonCope would deploy as a marine across the seas on the USS ENTERPRISE  IN SUPPORT OF COMBAT OPERATIONS IN AFGHANISTAN (operation enduring freedom). Even though he would spend the better half of a year overseas this wouldn’t stop  RonCope from continuing his work as an artist, he would team up with another servicemember to produce and record a single titled “Let Us In”.

“Let Us In”  was produced by  RonCope and Jodi bishop. Roncope would again add his lyrical genius on top of loud 808s and guitar riffs accompanied by Jodi bishop auto-tuned singing and lyricism to create a perfectly crafted track. Both artists attribute the song to both artists wanting the industry to see them and artists like them who struggle to get noticed.

RonCope would return home after spending nearly a year across the world. Picking back up where he and his partner DevBoat left off, deviboat would soon relocate to Warner Robbin’s Georgia and it would be here where DevBoat would further expand the duo's message and work from South Carolina to Georgia. Being physically apart both artists continued their personal growth within the underground, Ron continued his on the production side creating better beats, and learning the art of mixing and mastering while DevBoat prepared for their duo project. DevBoat would release his solo project featuring RonCope on the single “They Said” which gained some notoriety from other bigger artists on the local scene.
2015-2017 would prove to be an extremely busy time frame musically for both artists as they would release numerous singles and begin work on their 1st project as a team. RonCope would return to military service.

enlisting in the United States Army on July 06, 2016. RonCope would relocate with his family to North Carolina being stationed at Fort Bragg home of the 82nd airborne!  Hooah.  RonCope and DevBoat would release “flip it”, “stereotypes”, “left”,  “turning up” and “grown man”. 2017 would be a tough lesson and newfound motivation for Ron to fully invest in his brand with the music industry. In the winter of 2017 as Ron Cope and DevBoat slowly began to circulate and gain attention from other local artists in their local community and surrounding communities in South Carolina both would abruptly part ways, reasons still unknown to date. RonCope trying to balance their military career and musical career would undergo a transformation seeking younger talent to hone his production skills and boost less experienced extremely talented artists to gain more exposure as well as aid other artists as they began their pursuit of the music industry.

Fall of 2019, is a year RonCope recalls stating “ground zero for me on every level, as the artist, the producer, the person.” Ron at this point in his life had accomplished many professional and personal goals accept one…breaking the cycle of addiction. 2019 would prove to be not only one of the darkest but most important a new beginning for him. Fall of 2019 RonCope would have to do something few people on earth could do and that’s come to terms with a life long addiction to drugs and alcohol. RonCope was very skilled in many different aspects of his professional life not only musically talented including writing songs making beats, recording and producing but as servicemember he flew thru ranks surpassing his peers in every way physically, academically, and being extremely successful leader to his subordinates you would think what can’t he do….? His personal life would suffer his wife called it quits and his children felt their father had left them behind. Feeling the presssure of trying to be everything and taking on too much weight would eventually push RonCope to the bottle once again and only this time in that bottle is where he would stay….

Unbeknownst to many, RonCope had been fighting a demon he could never seem to beat, addiction! RonCope had been on again off again with alcoholism since a teenager, he was what mental health professionals would call a binge alcoholic drinking for days at time then sober up for months however each time his amount and time being extremely intoxicated would increase until 2019 when finally exploding into a spiral putting everything that RonCope had built in jeaopardy. Family, career and worse the fight for Ron’s life were all in question.. would this be it? Would Ron cope be done? Would he live? And how?

RonCope would be admitted twice to the hospital that  same year in less the  4 months both times doctors and nurses would be both be puzzled and astounded with one nurse after his last admission stating:  “I don’t know how but Mr. Copeland it’s a miracle we aren’t putting you on a breathing machine with your levels as extremely high as they are” . RonCope was in serious trouble not only mentally , but his family and career were in serious jeopardy.

RonCope had nowhere to go, his superiors wanted him out, his family didn’t want to speak with him, financially he was penniless, physically he was struggling and mentally crushed. RonCope had hit what many would say “rock bottom” and it was at this moment in time RonCope would make a choice that would forever change his life for the greater good..he chose sobriety! Mother’s Day 2019 RonCope recalls “May 11, 2019 was the first day of the rest of my life” RonCope with bout help, no medical assistance, no plan, nothing he’d become sober! “I decided something had to go and it wouldn’t be me!” He says after an astounding 4 years of being sober. RonCope would again leave active duty July 21, 2019, reuniting with his family and returning to his stomping ground moncks corner South Carolina.

RonCope now a father of 3 and an adopted nephew, sober for good, family intact, a new beginning RonCope had found himself, his true self, not only as a father, a husband, a veteran, a producer and solo artist… he became an advocate for mental health and addiction putting his story of life in addiction out there for all who need a laugh or a boost the  way he tells it, but a true survivor, a mentor a big brother to those in need and proves it in the lives he’s helped along the way.

RonCope … the man, the father, the soldier, the marine,  the producer,  the underground rapper, the advocate for you and me the sobriety buddy living next door, the true diamond in the dirt  who never quits, never surrenders in the face of adversity, who embraces the challenge no matter the size or situation, continuing the quest! RonCope dedicates his successes to the following.
